Malta International

Piano Festival

22-31.10.2017

Welcome to Malta International Piano Festival!

In recent years the Maltese islands have witnessed
a notable increase in cultural events that have also contributed to enhancing our international tourism profile. This was possible given we have invested thouroughly in order to attract prestigious events also during the winter months. Such activities have contributed to eradicating local tourism seasonality
and attract more tourists in the winter months.

Local venues, including the prestigious Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC), are actively contributing
at further elevating Malta’s already rich cultural calendar.

An outstanding cultural event is the Malta International Piano Festival, that will be hosted by the MCC,
and will involve the partcipation of local and foreign artists and musicians besides internationally acclaimed jury members.  We are very pleased that we will be hosting this event and we are confident that it will be
a success and a rich addition to the events calendar.

Minister of tourism

Edward Zammit Lewis

We are proud to present the second edition of the Malta International piano festival and competition. The Mediterranean Conference Centre has been working with international artists ever since the inception of its Cultural Calendar. It has also collaborated with the European  Foundation for the support of culture many times in order to produce world class symphonic and chamber concerts. This Festival and competition will continue promoting high culture, Maltese composers who are included in the compulsory list of pieces for two categories, Maltese pianists and the great facilities which constitute the Mediterranean Conference Centre. I ,on behalf of the MCC management wish all the participants ,the distinguished jury and the public a very enjoyable Festival!

Chairman of MCC
Kenneth Spiteri

This year’s 2nd Edition of the  Festival is  organised jointly with the Mediterranean Conference Centre and  takes place at several beautiful concert halls in the city of Valletta and feature performances by the most promising pianists who clearly have the potential for achieving successful lifelong careers.

The organization’s goal is to provide the artists with world-class performance venues,
allow them free interpretive expression, and give them exposure to new audiences.

The artists are invited to the Festival from every corner of the world with many making their Malta debuts.

The mission of European Foundation for Support of Culture through the presentation of the Malta International Piano Festival is to discover, promote, support and document the great masters of the keyboard emerging in this generation; to rediscover unusual repertoire while providing audiences
with a unique musical experience; to build the audiences of the future to help insure the very existence
of classical music.

We are constantly searching for the most gifted musicians of the new generation,
those few who are able to use technical virtuosity to speak with an original and compelling voice.

With so many artistic achievements to its credit, European Foundation for Support of Culture
views the continued success of its classical music projects in the future.

With best regards and respect,

Mr. Konstantin Ishkhanov,

President of EUFSC.
